Senior Cycling & Active Tourism Expert
16 years of specialized experience in senior recreational cycling, accessible greenway tourism, and flat-terrain bike route design across Central Europe.
A career built on thousands of kilometers and real conversations with cyclists
Martin discovered his passion for cycling tourism while leading school sports programs in Prague during the late 2000s. He noticed something that bothered him — there was barely any reliable information about safe, accessible cycling routes for older adults. That gap became his mission.
He studied Sports Geography at Charles University in Prague, then spent 8 years as a cycling route coordinator for the Prague Metropolitan Authority. During that time, he helped establish and document over 280 kilometers of senior-friendly pathways across the city and surrounding regions. But Martin's real education came from the road itself.
He's personally cycled every major greenway section between Prague and Vienna multiple times — testing routes with different fitness levels, mobility considerations, and real-world conditions. That's over 45,000 kilometers of field research. He's ridden in rain, heat, wind, and perfect conditions. He's tested with people in their sixties, seventies, and beyond. He's learned what works and what doesn't.
"Age shouldn't limit adventure," Martin says. "It just means we need to be smarter about planning."
At astraaviation, Martin combines his on-the-ground experience with rigorous research to create guides that actually help seniors safely explore Central Europe's most scenic cycling corridors. His writing isn't theoretical — it's earned through thousands of kilometers and conversations with cyclists of all abilities. Every route recommendation, every tip about bike setup, every suggestion about pacing comes from genuine knowledge.

A philosophy grounded in research, experience, and honesty
Every route recommendation comes from personal experience. Martin doesn't write about places he hasn't ridden. He tests routes with different conditions, different riders, different seasons.
He talks to actual cyclists — seniors who ride for fitness, for travel, for joy. He listens to what works for them, what frustrates them, what they wish they'd known earlier.
Not every route is for everyone. Martin tells you what's genuinely beginner-friendly, what requires fitness, what has unexpected challenges. You won't find sugarcoated descriptions here.
His writing is designed to help you actually plan and execute a ride. Specific details about terrain, facilities, distances, and logistics — not vague inspiration.
"I've ridden thousands of kilometers specifically to understand what senior cyclists need. Every article I write reflects that field research — not theory, not guesswork, but real experience on real routes with real riders."
